The BSc (Hons) Project Management with Foundation Year is designed to prepare you for a broad range of careers in project management or to enable you to advance in pre-existing employment opportunities. You will be able to enhance your career with high-level project management knowledge and be able to take on roles such as project planner, risk manager, estimator and managing or directing projects. The course covers project management, core management skills and the knowledge required to excel in multi-sector organisations.
On your Foundation Year, you will develop a range of employability and academic skills essential for success. You will have the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of project management, management and leadership theories, academic and professional skills – with emphasis on developing practical skills such as time management, critical thinking, problem-solving, and effective communication.
The following year of study covers detailed project management and business principles. You will learn project management theories, and life cycles, as well as business and management principles, statistics, data analysis, and decision-making tools. Additionally, you will be introduced to project management software tools.
As you advance to Level 5, your will focus on core project management competencies, including quality and performance management, planning and control of projects and how to manage projects effectively, efficiently, and sustainably. You will also develop core research competencies in project management.
In your last year, you will learn advanced concepts such as risk management, global project management and project management for innovation and change. These modules will enhance your confidence in change management and provide skills in managing an international project efficiently. You will complete a project that provides practical application of project management skills.

This course uses an authentic assessment strategy to ensure that each module takes you into realistic real-life situations, providing a formative pathway for assessing the learning goals of both specific modules and the overall programme. The assessments in the majority of the modules allow you to use your own business ideas, therefore allowing you to receive detailed feedback and time to reflect and develop your proposals further.
Assessment on the course is designed to provide suitable opportunities for you to demonstrate a full range of knowledge, skills and competencies that are key in the business environment. Assessment methods include essays, reports, real-life simulations, presentations, projects and group debates.
You will be required to work in your own time to complete research, homework tasks or group work. Self-study is vital to your success in this course and lecturers will give you guidance on how best to approach this throughout the study period.
Assessment methods at lcoolhe are reviewed annually and may be updated based on student feedback, to suit content or based upon feedback from an External Examiner. An External Examiner is an independent academic expert from an external Higher Education Institution that acts as a safeguard to academic assessment standards.

We welcome applications from students 21+ who do not match the standard entry requirements but who can demonstrate willingness and commitment to studying this subject, and who can evidence academic, professional or vocational experience in a related field. Have the following English qualification: GCSE grade 4/C or CEFR B1. If you do not have this qualification, you can carry out an English test provided at a lcoolhe campus.
